Our History

Bakrie University is a private higher education institution accredited Unggul by BAN-PT and managed by Yayasan Pendidikan Bakrie (YPB). Its journey began in 2006 when YPB took over STIE Mulia Persada and established Bakrie School of Management (BSM), initially offering a Management program before expanding with Accounting in 2007. In July 2009, through the Decree of the Minister of National Education No. 102/D/O/2009, BSM officially evolved into Universitas Bakrie with additional study programs, and was inaugurated on 9 August 2010.

Since then, Bakrie University has grown steadily in reputation. Recognized as the Best Private University in Jakarta by Times Higher Education in 2021, 2022, and 2023, UBakrie is now ranked among the Top 2% of universities in Indonesia and proudly entered the Top 5 Universities in Indonesia (2024–2025).

Academic life at Bakrie University balances intellectual rigor with practical relevance. The university currently consists of two faculties, Economics & Social Sciences and Engineering & Computer Science, alongside master’s programs in Management and Communication Science. From Management, Accounting, International Relations, and Public Policy to Informatics, Food Technology, and Environmental Engineering, all programs are designed to meet the evolving demands of national and global contexts.

A distinctive feature of Bakrie University is its Industrial Engagement Learning model, connecting students with real industry dynamics through collaboration with Bakrie Group companies. Students engage in corporate visits, business simulations, and direct projects with leading practitioners, including CEOs and industry leaders.

This vision is embodied in the Sky City Campus at Bakrie Tower, the only private skyscraper campus in Jakarta, serving as a hub of creativity, collaboration, and innovation at the heart of the capital.
