Bakrie University Holds Digital Storytelling Socialization to Support the Digital Transformation of Msme Galleries Abata

Jakarta, 19 June 2026 – The Bakrie University Community Service Team funded through the Community Service Grant Program of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology (BIMA) held a Digital Storytelling Socialization activity for MSME Galleries Abata on Friday (19/6/2026). The activity takes place from 13.00–16.00 WIB at Galleries Abata, Jl. Raya Bogor No. KM.19 No.1, RT.2/RW.10, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta.

This activity is part of a series of community service programs which aim to increase the capacity of MSMEs in utilizing digital technology to strengthen marketing strategies through creating stories (storytelling) that are interesting, authentic, and able to build closeness with customers. The socialization was attended by five participants consisting of owners and staff of MSME Galleries Abata. During the activity, participants gained an understanding of the basic concepts of digital storytelling, the importance of building brand identity, techniques for creating effective product narratives, and the use of various digital media platforms as promotional tools.

The Bakrie University service team involved consisted of two lecturers from the Information Systems Study Program (Mrs. Dita Nurmadewi and Mr. Zakiul Fahmi Jailani), one lecturer from the Accounting Study Program (Mrs. Jurica Lucyanda), and two students from the Information Systems Study Program (Rega Saputra and Aulia Febriyanti). In the material presentation session, participants were invited to understand that digital marketing does not only focus on conveying product information, but also on the ability to present stories that can create emotional experiences for consumers. Through a digital storytelling approach, MSMEs are expected to be able to display values, production processes, and product uniqueness in a more interesting way so as to increase customer trust and loyalty.

In addition to delivering material, the activity was also filled with interactive discussion sessions regarding the challenges faced by MSMEs in managing digital content. Participants share experiences related to promotions via social media, while the service team provides input regarding content development strategies that are more focused, consistent and in line with the characteristics of the target market. The enthusiasm of the participants was seen from the high level of participation during the discussion and question and answer sessions. Various questions were asked about how to build a brand story, determining the type of content that attracts customer attention, and strategies for increasing engagement through social media. As part of the activity evaluation, all participants took a pre-test and post-test. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in understanding, as seen from the increase in the average participant score from 58.00 to 92.00 after participating in the socialization. These results show that the material provided was able to increase participants' insight regarding the use of digital storytelling as an effective marketing strategy to support the development of MSMEs.

Through this activity, Bakrie University hopes that MSME Galleries Abata can implement the concept of digital storytelling in daily marketing activities so that it can increase business competitiveness in the era of digital transformation. This outreach activity is also the first step in a series of mentoring programs that will be implemented on an ongoing basis to support the development of digital capacity for MSMEs through the application of information technology and digital innovation.
